Winbond America Introduces New USB Audio Controller IC Series
for the Skype / VoIP Market
San Jose, CA, March 1, 2007 — Winbond Electronics Corporation America, a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions to the consumer, computer, communications and electronics products markets, today introduced the first two products in its new USB Audio Controller Series, W681306 and W681307. The W681306 is the world’s first highly integrated IC for building a PSTN and USB interface dual mode phone or gateway application, integrating a standard fast 8-bit 8051 microcontroller featuring a PSTN port with caller ID and DTMF tone support. Also standard are a USB 1.1 interface port and PCM bus to support other peripheral voice or audio devices in a single chip package. The W681307 is the world’s first USB controller for the VoIP market, that integrates a 16 bit ADC/DAC and digital AEC/AGC to support USB speaker phone applications in a single chip packages. That result in reduced board space and most importantly the lowest Bill of Materials (BOM) costs in the industry for PC-based VoIP applications.
