The following
products are EOL (End Of Life) and no longer supported by Winbond Electronics
Corporation. Winbond makes every effort to inform all customers, distributors
and agents about any change in status on product support, and strives
to give 6 months’ notice of a planned product obsolescence in which
time the customer can order lifetime buy quantities. In cases where an
exact or functional replacement are available, we have listed the alternative
below. In all cases, though, it is highly recommended to consult the product
datasheet and/or contact your Winbond representative regarding these parts.
Any product recommendations made for non-Winbond components are based
on publicly available information only and are not guarantees of product
performance or functional specifications.
Winbond’s
ISD2500 ChipCorder® Series provide high-quality, single-chip, Record/Playback
solutions for 60- to 120-second messaging applications. The CMOS devices
include an on-chip oscillator, microphone preamplifier, automatic gain
control, antialiasing filter, smoothing filter, speaker amplifier, and
high density multi-level storage array. In addition, the ISD2500 is microcontroller
compatible, allowing complex messaging and addressing to be achieved.
Recordings are stored into on-chip nonvolatile memory cells, providing
zero-power message storage. This unique, single-chip solution is made
possible through Winbond’s patented multilevel storage technology.
Voice and audio signals are stored directly into memory in their natural
form, providing high-quality, solid-state voice reproduction. |

ISD2500 Family Push-Button Operation— M6 Mode
This brief attempts to make the ISD2500 Push-Button operation easier to understand.
It explains how the chip changes its operation for the Push-Button Operational
Mode, including the pin name changes. It is three pages long, including a “state
diagram.”

Technical Considerations for the Conversion from an ISD1000A Application
to an ISD2500 Application
This brief explains how to design a circuit with the ISD1000A now and upgrade
it later to use the extended time of the ISD2500 series devices. Included is
a table of pin comparisons which discusses the new “Overflow” indicator, pin
22. This brief also mentions the one new Operation Mode in the ISD2500 devices,
the M6 Push-Button Mode, which is explained thoroughly in Application Brief
5.
