NEXFLASH SERIAL FLASH MEMORY
LINE RAMPS PRODUCTION,
RECEIVES INDUSTRY RECOGNITION;
spiFlash Memory Family Selected for EDN Magazine's
Top Products
SAN JOSE, CA. - January 15, 2004
NexFlash Technologies, Inc., a pioneer in Serial Flash technology,
today announced that its NexFlash® spiFlash® Serial
Flash Memories line is ramping into volume production and has
received industry recognition as one of the top products of
2003.
The company announced the first members of the spiFlash family
last year, the NX25P10, NX25P20 and NX25P40 (one-, two- and
four-megabit devices, respectively), and is now ramping up production
to meet demand for computing, storage, communications and entertainment
applications. Higher-density spiFlash memories, up to 64 megabits,
are scheduled for introduction in the coming months. Volume
production of the spiFlash line enables developers of products
for these applications to realize high-volume manufacturing.
Ample wafer capacity is provided by NexFlash's wafer fabrication
partner and parent company, Winbond Electronics.
NexFlash also announced that the spiFlash line has been named
to EDN Magazine's "100 Hot Products of 2003" list. The spiFlash
family, recognized by EDN for its fast clock rates, wide density
range and space-saving packages, was one of only seven products
on the list's digital and programmable logic category, which
also included other industry leaders such as Toshiba and Xilinx.
EDN's synopsis of the "100 Hot Products of 2003": "The best 100
products of 2003 encompass a range of architectures and technologies
and a plethora of categories --
from analog ICs to multimedia to test-and-measurement tools. All
are innovative, but, of the thousands that manufacturers announce
each year and the hundreds that EDN reports about, only about 100
hot products really make our readers sit up and take notice..."

"Quickly ramping up production of the spiFlash family and its place
among the top products by EDN magazine both represent significant
accomplishments for NexFlash, reflecting the industry's embrace
of high-speed Serial Flash technology," said Thomas Liao, NexFlash
president and chief executive officer. "We're encouraged by how
customers developing a wide range of applications are now embracing
this technology in various densities and honored that leading authorities
such as EDN are recognizing its significance for designers and manufacturers."
The spiFlash family line features the popular Serial Peripheral
Interface (SPI), a density range eventually reaching 64 megabits,
and performance and packaging tailored for emerging serial code-storage
applications. The family offers NexFlash's first full line of Serial
Flash memories with 33MHz speeds across all densities. Space-saving
packaging and other features make spiFlash memories ideal for a
broad range of serial code-storage applications such as DVDs, hard
drives, printers, LCD monitors, wireless LANs, ADSL and cable modems.
The spiFlash line can also be used for data, text and voice storage
in microcontroller-based systems common in industrial, automotive
and consumer products.
