ISD Expands Global Customer Base: Announces Innovative, Design Wins For Its Chipcorder Voice Technology

ISD's ChipCorderȘ Technology Used in New European Phones, Pagers and Clocks

SAN JOSE, Calif., November 20, 1995 - ISD, Inc. (NASDAQ: ISDI), a leading semiconductor supplier of voice record and playback solutions for the consumer and communications markets, announced today that its patented ChipCorder ® voice technology has been integrated into several new products for the European marketplace.

The new products include Panasonic's G400 GSM cellular telephone, Swissphone's Talkman® DV300 Pocsag voice pager, Grundig's LP-70 TREX Music Telephone and Braun's AB 314 Voice Memo travel alarm clock.

ISD's proprietary ChipCorder ® technology enables voice, sound and music to be recorded on a single microchip and played back at a later time. Panasonic G400 GSM Cellular Telephone

The Panasonic G400 GSM cellular telephone utilizes the ISD1420 ChipCorder ® product to enable a voice memo function. This memo feature allows the user to record important information such as directions, addresses and telephone numbers by simply pressing the memo button. This feature can record and playback a message up to 20 seconds long. The G400 GSM phone is now available throughout Europe and most GSM territories and is distributed through Panasonic's Business System (PBS) group.

Swissphone Talkman® DV300 Voice Pager

Swissphone Inc., specializing in pagers and pager systems, uses the ISD2560 ChipCorder ® product in its new Talkman® DV300 Pocsag voice pager. The Talkman® DV300 translates a digital paging code into one of ten pre-recorded voice messages which are stored on the ISD microchip. The ChipCorder ® product enables the pager to double as a pocket recorder and is also used to store pre-recorded numbers and DTMF tones. With easy push button control, users can record up to 40 seconds of personal memos. The Talkman® DV300 is used with the SCALL paging network in Germany.

Grundig LP-70 TREX Music Telephone

Grundig's LP-70 TREX Music Telephone features the ISD1416 ChipCorder ® product which allows the telephone's ringing sound to be replaced with music. With the push of a button, users can download from the TREX (Telephone Ringer EXchange) a choice of over 50 musical selections including pop, classical and special effects. In addition, when callers are on hold, the music will loop continuously, providing "music on hold." The LP-70 TREX is available in the Netherlands, Germany and France.

Braun Voice Memo Travel Alarm Clock

Braun's Travel Alarm Clock has a unique feature that allows users to customize the alarm function with a personalized voice message or music in addition to the standard alarm signal. The Travel Alarm Clock uses the ISD1110 ChipCorder ® product which stores recorded message up to 10 seconds long. The Braun voice memo travel alarm clock is now available in Germany and will be launched throughout Europe in 1996.
