Winbond
America Introduces New I5102/4 ChipCorder®
Voice Record and Playback ICs
San Jose, CA,
Dec. 15, 2003 — Winbond Electronics Corporation America,
a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions to the consumer, computer,
communications and electronics products markets, today introduced
the ISD5102/ISD5104 ChipCorder® series of voice record and playback
ICs. The devices expand Winbond’s ISD5100 family and feature 1 to
4 minutes in record/playback duration and digital data storage. The
ICs are targeted at a broad spectrum of markets and applications including
security, industrial and automotive. These shorter duration chips
(two minutes for the ISD5102 and four minutes for the ISD5104) are
currently sampling and priced at $3.91 (ISD5102) and $4.30 (ISD5104)
for 25,000 quantities.
Based on Winbond’s proprietary
Multi-Level Storage (MLS) ChipCorder technology, Winbond’s ChipCorder
solutions are well known for low power operation, non-volatile message
storage and industry-leading sound quality. The ICs use solid-state
memory, advanced features for message management, including forward/backward,
no rewinding delays and random access to messages. The chips also
offer user selectable (4.0, 5.3, 6.4 or 8.0KHz) sampling frequency,
I2C™ interface, 3V operation and solid-state memory. Fully integrated
system functions include: AGC, microphone preamplifier, speaker drivers,
oscillator and memory. The chips can be easily implemented, offering
ease of design and flexible functionality. Both devices are available
in 28-pin 300mil SOIC and 8x13.4mm TSOP packages, as well as in DIE
form.
“The ISD5102 and ISD5104
chips represent excellent design-in options for customers seeking
feature rich, cost effective embedded voice solutions,” said Peter
Himes, vice president of marketing, Winbond America. “In addition,
the chips’ shorter voice record and playback durations provide ideal
choices for the telephony and consumer electronics markets, and available
pre-recording services make these solutions ideal for high quality
voice prompt applications as well.”
