Whistler Incorporates ISD’s ChipCorder® Technology Into 1580 Radar-Laser Detector

Voice Feature Allows Drivers to Focus On The Road

CONSUMER ELECTRONICS SHOW (CES) - Las Vegas, Nevada - January 9, 1997 — ISD (Information Storage Devices, Inc.), (NASDAQ:ISDI), announced today that Whistler Corporation has incorporated the ISD2560 voice record and playback chip into the Whistler 1580, the premier model of Whistler’s newly announced 1500 Series of radar- laser detection systems.

“ISD has the excellent sound quality we required to equip our radar-laser detector with clear audible messages for customers looking for high performance protection against all radar and laser guns, without taking their eyes off the road to read a text display,” said Karen Hatcher, director of Detection Systems for Whistler Corporation. “Voice messages enhance the safety features offered by our detectors.”

By incorporating the ISD technology, Whistler’s 1580 Radar-Laser Detector Safe Driving System™, provides an advanced warning for all radar and laser guns and advises of all safety radar including the new Safety Warning System™ and Safety Alert™. The Safety Warning System was designed to enhance driver safety by alerting motorists to upcoming road hazards in five separate categories (highway hazard, highway construction, travel advisory, weather advisory and fast/slow moving vehicle). Whistler’s exclusive Stay Alert™ feature helps drivers fight highway fatigue.

The 1580 features Real Voice™ technology which provides voice messaging for more than 60 Safety Radar alerts. Unlike competitive models, with digitally-generated artificial voice, Whistler’s messaging technology uses Real Voice--made up of clear, easy-to-understand recorded elements of actual human speech. These products let drivers concentrate on driving while being informed of situations down the road.

The 1580 also offers a programmable option mode that lets drivers tailor the detector to their needs, an enhanced ergonomic design with Soft Touch™ volume control and a highly visible LED dot matrix text display. Whistler’s 1580 model retails at $249.95.

CES attendees can view the ChipCorder product line at booth #20760, or the Whistler Corporation 1580 detection system at booth #16457, both located at the Sands Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nev.
